Al-Asmar: Saif al-Islam’s supporters support holding elections because they want the people to choose the system by which the country will be run
Muhammad Al-Asmar, a political analyst, confirmed that the supporters of the Al-Fateh Revolution and the supporters of Dr. Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi like the outcomes of the Cairo meeting between members of the Tobruk Parliament and the Supreme Council of the Muslim Brotherhood, “the advisory state,” because it will provide a basis for going to elections, which is their basic demand.
Al-Asmar explained in an interview with the ideological “Libya Al-Ahrar” channel, that although the outcomes of the Cairo meeting did not bring anything new, they satisfy the general ambition, especially since these outcomes appeal to the supporters of the Jamahiriya regime and Dr. Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi, according to what he said.
He added, “These outcomes appeal to them, because they talk about enforcing the presidential and parliamentary electoral laws that have been approved, and these laws appeal to this movement because they pave the way for going directly to the parliamentary and presidential elections, and this is their demand.”
He went on to say, “They want to enable all those who meet the conditions to participate in the electoral process, and thus Saif al-Islam Gaddafi’s participation in the presidential elections as he ran in 2021, even though the movement supporting the candidacy of Dr. Saif al-Islam or the supporters of the Jamahiriya regime agree on general constants, and differ in some details and mechanisms.” .
Al-Asmar spoke about 3 main constants by which the supporters of the Al-Fateh Revolution and the supporters of Dr. Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi are supported, namely “the firm position on the aggression that occurred against Libya in 2011, secondly, striking the legitimacy that existed in Libya, and thirdly, removing the masses of the Libyan people from choosing the political system that “They see him as fit to manage his life.”
He concluded by saying, “Saif al-Islam and his supporters believe that those who want to nominate him in the elections have the right to support him, and those who do not want him to nominate have the right to oppose his candidacy, but on the condition that this does not affect the three constants related to the right of the masses to choose who represents them and the political system they desire.”
