Embarak Al-Shamekh: Libya, led by Commander Gaddafi, is the first country to receive compensation and an apology from Italy for the colonial period
The former Secretary of the General People’s Committee, Embarak Al-Shamekh, confirmed that Libya, led by the martyr leader Muammar Gaddafi, had been seeking since the first of September 1969 to obtain an official apology from Italy and compensation for the period of Italian colonization of Libya, and it was a very difficult matter.
Al-Shamekh added, on his official Facebook page, that the beginning was with the joint Libyan-Italian declaration and the minutes that I signed with Berlusconi in 2002, in contrast to the agreement that was signed in 2008 in Benghazi.
He pointed out that these two steps were important towards the great achievement, which is the conclusion of the apology and compensation agreement, which is primarily a moral recognition, apology, and compensation for the period of hateful colonialism.
He explained that the completion of this agreement is considered a historical achievement, and no country has ever obtained it except for Germany’s compensation for the Jews, and many countries are still seeking to obtain such an apology and compensation and have not obtained it, and you will be rewarded in our sister Algeria through it.
He pointed out that the credit goes to God, then the leader of the revolution, Muammar Gaddafi, and his insistence on completing this issue and his steadfastness, and then comes the role played by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs at its various stages.
