A new Russian arms deal in agreement with the American Haftar to support the “African Legion”
After the Wagner forces joined the forces loyal to the American Khalifa Haftar in 2019, allowing the Russian forces to provide a “foothold” in Libya and turn it into a base for the Russian African Legion.
The Italian magazine “Formici” confirms that Russian weapons have arrived in the city of Cyrenaica during the past few weeks, through which Moscow seeks to support the “African Corps” in the Sahel region and support its members in Burkina Faso and Niger.
The magazine added, in its report, that the Russian weapons that arrived in Cyrenaica are not intended to remain in Libya, but rather to strengthen the “present and future” African Corps units in the Sahel region.
The report indicated that these weapons are currently stored in military sites belonging to the forces of the American Khalifa Haftar, and will move south in the near future, pointing out that Russia is currently using the eastern region of Libya as a logistical center for its prospective operations in Africa.
The newspaper also continued that Russia is currently benefiting from Wagner’s former collaborators, to establish its presence in a number of politically unstable African countries, including Libya, Central Africa, Mali, and Sudan.
