Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed: Al-Darsi’s criticism of the reconstruction file raised doubts about his disappearance, and Haftar remains silent
A report by the Qatari Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed website stated that the fate of Tobruk Member of Parliament Ibrahim Al-Darsi remains unknown since his disappearance in eastern Benghazi, which is under the control of the American Khalifa Haftar, adding that no security agency in Benghazi has claimed responsibility for Al-Darsi’s arrest.
The report confirmed that the leadership of the American Haftar remained completely silent about the incident, despite the Darsi tribe’s request, in a statement on Saturday evening, for Haftar to “intervene personally, to supervise the course of the investigation.”
It pointed out that the form and method of Al-Darsi’s disappearance, which was shown in the circulating videos, raised doubts about the relationship of his disappearance to his statements a few days ago to a local satellite channel during his talk about the reconstruction file in the cities of Benghazi and Derna, during which he criticized what he described as the control of a “segment” of power in eastern Libya, in exchange for the marginalization of the rest. The sons of the east of the country, in reference to the sons of the American Haftar, who are managing the reconstruction file in the two cities.
The report explained that although Al-Darsi appeared again three days ago in other statements in which he changed his tone of criticism to praise for the efforts of Haftar’s sons in the reconstruction file in Benghazi and Derna, many activists wondered, through social media platforms, about the reasons for the group’s silence. Haftar declined to comment on the incident.
It is noteworthy that Ibrahim Al-Darsi disappeared four days ago after the military parade by the forces of the American Khalifa Haftar, while Hammad’s parallel government denies knowledge of his fate, which confirms the fragile security situation in Benghazi and the eastern region.
