Al-Marimi: Elections will not take place in Libya unless all Libyan parties agree

The media advisor to the Presidency of the Tobruk Parliament, Fathi Al-Marimi, confirmed that no elections will take place in Libya, except with the agreement of all Libyan parties, indicating that there are ongoing consultations to establish an understanding between the Libyan parties and form a government that will head the country to presidential and parliamentary elections.

Al-Marimi explained in statements to “Al-Arab Mubasher” that with this consensus, the country can return to the right path to serve the Libyan people, who have suffered greatly in recent years.

He continued by saying, “The coming period will witness many developments in the Libyan scene through continued international efforts to end the state of internal divisions and move toward parliamentary and presidential elections as soon as possible, in order to preserve the Libyan state and seek to end the state of internal divisions in the country.”

He concluded by saying, “The meeting of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in the presence of Aguila Saleh, Muhammad Al-Manfi, and Muhammad Takala, played an important role in facilitating dialogue between the Libyan parties.”
