Al-Qamati: The ideal electoral laws that everyone is satisfied with, can not be found

The former opponent of the Al-Fateh Revolution, Jumaa El-Qamati, said that it is not possible to find ideal electoral laws that everyone is satisfied with, adding that what is happening is the same problem that we faced when we formed a committee to draft the constitution and we were unable to obtain complete or even almost complete consensus.

Al-Qamati confirmed, in an interview on Al-Massar TV, that it is difficult in the case of Libya, which is almost dispersed and suffers from a state of division, polarization, and intense conflict, to reach an ideal situation by agreeing on any law, draft constitution, or social contract.

He pointed out that what is required is the minimum that provides an interim interest for us in taking steps forward and getting closer to the final stage, which is stability for the Libyans.

He concluded by saying, “The laws produced by the 6+6 Committee, despite their weaknesses that we have talked about a lot, are the best possible at this stage.”
