Al-Sanussi: I do not rule out Al-Mishri’s rise again to the presidency of the State Council after Takala’s rigid positions and his freezing of all agreements

The former spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood’s Supreme Council of State, Ismail al-Senussi, said that the difference in votes between Khaled al-Mishri and Mohamed Takala was slight in the last elections, as Takala advanced in the second round by a small margin.

Al-Senussi added, in statements to the “Maghreb Voices” website, that the current elections will also witness the entry of Adel Karmos into the competition, which will be intense and will witness a great convergence in votes between the three figures, which means that it is difficult to predict the winner.

Al-Senussi believed that there is a general trend to change Mohamed Takala, as the council completely froze its operations during his presidency, especially when he tried to backtrack on previous agreements reached with the Tobruk Parliament.

He stressed that the political agreement grants the State Council the authority to work with the parliament on constitutional amendments, forming the government, the electoral law, and choosing sovereign institutions.

He continued by saying, “Takala’s tenure as the council’s president witnessed stagnation and disruption of the scene, in addition to accusations directed at Takala personally of obstructing the agreements signed by former President Khaled al-Mishri with Aguila Saleh.”

He continued, “There were agreements on electoral laws, constitutional amendments, and the formation of a new unified government between the two councils, but when Takala assumed the presidency, he froze these agreements, which some consider to be a renunciation and obstruction.”

He stressed that these elections will be decisive, as they will determine not only who will assume the presidency, but also the fate of the council, which has become the subject of anger in many sectors because it is considered to be obstructing the political process, warning that the council is threatened with exit from the scene if it continues with its current approach.

Al-Sanussi does not rule out the rise of Khaled Al-Mishri to the presidency again, noting that he “has a strong political balance,” and that “Takala’s presidency witnessed an absence of any tangible achievements, as his role was limited to issuing statements expressing rigid positions, which led to the failure of attempts to revive the political process.
