Al-Senussi Ismail: It is currently difficult to hold elections and form a new government, and Bathily has succeeded in freezing the situation in the country
The former spokesman for the Supreme Council of the Muslim Brotherhood, “The State Advisory Council,” Al-Senussi Ismail, said that the High Electoral Commission had previously stated more than once that it was technically ready to hold elections, but Al-Sayeh’s talk about the Libyan political environment that makes it impossible to hold elections in the short term may have been correct. On one side, he was wrong on the other.
Al-Senussi added, in an intervention on the “Libya Al-Ahrar” satellite channel, that in the short term there appears to be difficulty in holding elections, because it is currently difficult to form a unified government to supervise them, continuing, “The tourist’s words about this matter may be pessimism or anger at what is happening in the country because of International interventions and the presence of two governments imposing a new reality.”
He pointed out that the resigned UN envoy Abdullah Bathily had a clear mission to freeze the situation in Libya, which he actually succeeded in doing, and the mission did not play any role, adding, “Even unilateral political efforts to find a solution were obstructed by Bathily, and she did not present any clear program or clear practical plan to support the process.” politics in Libya.
He added, “The electoral laws are ready and published in the Official Gazette, and the technical view of the Commission and the UN mission has been taken into account, and overturning them requires a major event and a major dialogue to amend anything constitutional,” indicating that our problem is very realistic and has nothing to do with the laws, but rather with a lack of trust between the parties.
He continued, saying, “We want a president who will restore Libya’s sovereignty and prestige, because the Libyans have now almost lost their sovereignty over their land and are living under foreign occupation of the country,” pointing out that the Security Council and the Arab League can influence the parties to support electoral laws.
He believed that the electoral laws are in the custody of the international community, saying, “If it wants the Libyan crisis to be resolved, the elections will be held according to them, but it seems that the European and Western countries currently want stability in Libya and the completion of the elections to remove the foreign forces about which the feeling of anxiety has increased recently, whether American or Russian.”
He continued that Stephanie Khoury must currently present a convincing plan to all members of the Security Council to achieve stability in Libya, noting that there is harmony between the United States and Russia, as each of them does not work against the other, as Moscow does in Africa.
