An Emirati newspaper reveals how the “February Catastrophe” turned Libya into a country of conflicts and chaos

An Emirati newspaper confirmed that Libya has suffered significant real losses in recent years following the February Catastrophe, due to successive armed militia conflicts, which has established a mental image among many that it has now become “a country of conflicts and security chaos.”

The Emirati newspaper, Al Bayan, explained that the current fragile security situation may lead Libya to return to violence again, and undermine any political, social, or security gains achieved during the security period.

This security fragility was demonstrated by the newspaper, which is the inability of government agencies so far to reopen the Ras Jdir border crossing with Tunisia, which is under the control of militias.

It continued, saying, “There are serious fears of a return to violence, due to the influence struggle between the militias and armed groups that are still insisting on keeping the situation as it is, that is, in contradiction to Al-Dabaiba government’s efforts to evacuate the capital, Tripoli, of militants.”
