Bashagha admits 13 years after the February Catastrophe: I regret what the national economy has become as a result of wrong policies.
The coordinator of the NATO Operations Room in Misrata in 2011, Fathi Bashagha, said that he regretted what the national economy had become as a natural result of wrong policies that victimized ordinary citizens, calling on all concerned parties to cooperate in a way that ensures finding real solutions to the stifling economic crisis.
Bashagha confirmed, in a blog post on his page on the social networking site Facebook, that he praised what was stated in the speech of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya addressed to the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament to take a set of measures to address the economic and financial turmoil.
He pointed out that at the same time he agrees with the representatives on the danger of multiple exchange rates on the national economy and reopening the door to corruption and illicit gain, especially in light of the weakness of oversight and accountability tools and the skepticism of some about the transparency of procedures.
Members of the Finance Committee of the Tobruk Parliament called for the necessity of unifying the tax and the exchange rate and fixing it without exception for any party, in order to achieve a balance between supply and demand and enhance the economic and financial stability of the state.
