Emirati “Al Ain”: Batelli may submit his resignation, and “Khoury” will replay the role of “Williams”

The Emirati newspaper Al-Ain confirmed that the appointment of Stephanie Khoury, deputy UN envoy to Abdullah Batelli, is a final attempt to extend a lifeline to the mission, fearing that Batelli’s mission will remain the same fate as his predecessors, the previous envoys.

The newspaper indicated, in its report, that the appointment of Khoury would contribute to moving the political situation that had frozen in Libya, stressing that her appointment brings to mind the role played by Stephanie Williams, as deputy UN envoy, and then as UN envoy.

According to the report, Khoury will replay the same role that Williams played, especially after the criticism that targeted the UN mission, and Batelli may submit his resignation in a repeat of the scenario of Ghassan Salama, who resigned in January 2020.
