Ouhida: Any violation of the essence of electoral laws is unacceptable

A member of the Tobruk Parliament, Jibril Ohida, confirmed that any violation of the essence of the current electoral laws is completely rejected by Parliament, because it requires a constitutional amendment.

Ouhida explained in statements to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the statement of the Cairo meeting was clear, which was to form a “time-bound technical committee,” meaning that it was agreed to form a technical, not political, committee, and its role would be limited to considering technical observations only.

He continued by saying, “If there is any technical defect, it can be voted on, and this is acceptable to Parliament, but if Takala’s goal was to open the electoral laws again for discussion, then this is completely unacceptable.”
