The London newspaper Al-Arab: Saif al-Islam and Haftar do not have the acceptance and satisfaction of Washington, so the 2021 elections were deliberately postponed
The London newspaper Al-Arab revealed that Western capitals are prepared to obstruct efforts to resolve Libya if it does not pass through their channels, adding that this is what happened in 2021 when the election date was deliberately postponed to an indefinite period, due to the candidacy of two parties that do not enjoy acceptance and satisfaction. Washington and London, namely the American Khalifa Haftar and Dr. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi.
The newspaper confirmed in its report that Russia has become a specific party in the Libyan situation not only because of the presence of Wagner mercenaries and their support for the American Khalifa Haftar, but also through linking communication channels with various parties, including the Dabaiba government.
The newspaper indicated that the Libyan file has returned to strong discussion by Western capitals, most notably Washington, with a clear call to adopt the initiative of UN envoy Abdullah Batelli, which was previously announced last November, and to cast doubt on the feasibility of any efforts that do not start from it, including the tripartite meeting in Cairo.
It explained that there are frequent American-European movements and positions these days under the guise of supporting the UN initiative, and they mainly aim to besiege the Russian role and block the way to any steps towards a political solution that Moscow and its allies might benefit from inside Libya.
The report continued that talk about the possibility of reaching a solution to the crisis is still far away, and that the situation in Libya has become part of the regional and international tensions, and the outcome of the conflict between Washington and its allies on the one hand, and Moscow on the other.
