Al-Ghawil: Washington is seeking to return diplomatically to Libya to prevent the candidacy of Dr. Saif Al-Islam

The head of the Competition and Monopoly Prevention Council and former Minister of State in Al-Dabaiba government, Salama Al-Ghawil, confirmed that the United States is seeking to return diplomatically to Libya in order to prevent Dr. Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi from running for elections.

Al-Ghawil explained in statements to the Russian “Sputnik” agency that Washington seeks to have a role in Libya that takes into account and preserves its interests, adding, “But some parties believe that Washington’s presence in the Libyan scene is related to preventing Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi from running for elections.”

He continued by saying, “Washington sees Libya as particularly important in terms of geographical location, as the decision to return the diplomatic mission comes in the context of the process of managing influence and balance that it is working on in the face of other powers.”

He went on to say, “Libya’s geographical location between Europe and Africa has made it a gateway and an important region in managing the international conflict between the great powers. I see that the American return to Libya comes within the framework of its effort to confront the Russian presence in the region, and seeks for Libya to be its center towards the African region.”
