Al-Hawaij accuses Al-Dabaiba of disrupting the elections and stresses that reconciliation has become a necessity, not an option
The Minister of Interior of the Government of Eastern Libya, Abdul Hadi Al-Hawaij, accused Al-Dabaiba of being the one who disrupted the course of the elections, and that his government aspires to hold parliamentary and presidential elections, and to resort to the Democracy Fund instead of the Arms Fund.
Al-Hawaij explained in statements to the Saudi Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath channel that whoever controls the political scene in Tripoli refuses to fulfill the will of the Libyan people by going to elections and renewing legitimacy for all institutions.
He added, “We insist that we obey the will of the Libyan people, that the country live in a state of stability and security, and that we all turn to our real battle, which is the battle of reconstruction and development.”
Al-Hawaij touched on Libya’s loss of its sovereignty after February, saying, “All international conferences and all envoys neglected the most important element in the negotiations, which is the Libyan element, and we say that the solution must be owned by the Libyans, made by the Libyans, and be Libyan-Libyan.”
He went on to say, “Any path that does not take this issue into account will fail, as all previous attempts have failed.”
He concluded by saying, “Reconciliation is not an option, but rather a necessity. Reconciliation must be comprehensive, national, not based on conquest, not based on the victor and the defeated, and based on partnership.”
