“Asharq Al-Awsat” newspaper: Hammad seeks to control the south politically and militarily, and Al-Dabaiba resorts to external parties

The Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat confirmed that the government of eastern Libya and its president, Osama Hammad, have recently sought to outperform Al-Dabaiba government internally, by extending control over the south politically and militarily.

The Saudi newspaper pointed out that, on the other hand, Al-Dabaiba resorts to external parties, taking advantage of the international recognition of his government, by making several foreign visits, such as his recent visit to Ethiopia, and before that, Italy, Turkey, Qatar, and Senegal, and then his attempt to enter the line of the Libyan crisis by receiving both sides of the conflict there.

The newspaper stated that these moves by the government of eastern Libya are clearly intended to “empower” the government of the east so that it can remove Al-Dabaiba from the scene and limit his control to only exist in Tripoli and its environs.
