The expert in African affairs, Ibrahim Zein Konji, confirmed that the American bases inside Niger were based on monitoring armed groups in neighboring Libya after the February catastrophe, adding, “At that time, there was a leak and smuggling of types of aircraft and advanced missiles, including the Sam 7.”
In statements to the “Erem News” website, Konji explained that the American military leadership did not deal with the military authorities in Niger as a sovereign state, which is what France fell into and hastened its departure as well.
The expert pointed out that behind the deployment of the “African Legion” was Niger’s fears of a retaliatory move by France or the United States, as a military unit and anti-aircraft devices recently arrived to protect the military junta in Niger.
