Free Pens: Hannibal Gaddafi is not accused of any crime, and Lebanon fears the wrath of his captors if it releases him

The “Free Pens” website confirmed that the pictures of the kidnapped Captain Hannibal Gaddafi from inside the prison, presented by the Lebanese Al-Jadeed channel, open the door to a big question: who is the biggest detainee in our Arab world? The answer comes without a doubt, “freedom and the law.” They are the two big detainees. Unless they are released, thousands of detainees will remain in the prisons of the Arab authorities without the slightest rights.

The website added, in a report, “How was Hannibal Gaddafi arrested, and was he subjected to a fair trial, and was he even accused and wanted by the judicial lists in Lebanon? The whole story raises pity for the judicial system in our Arab countries.”

He pointed out that the man was not wanted in Lebanon, and was not accused of any crime, so that his arrest was initially a kidnapping carried out by members of a Lebanese family ( Yacoub family), who say that their grandfather was kidnapped in Libya, when Captain Hannibal Gaddafi was only three years old.

It pointed out that the pictures of Al-Jadeed Channel showed the extent of the reliability of prisons in Lebanon in terms of applying international laws and human rights laws towards detainees, adding, “The prisoner does not receive medical care, and does not have the right to communicate with his lawyer or family, and he has been deprived of visits since his arrest, all of this.” It takes place in the prison of a country whose politicians say that they are the protectors of freedom, and that their country is an oasis of freedom in the Middle East.”

The report added that after publishing new photos of the young Libyan man, with broken eyes, a weak build, and glasses indicating the decline of his vision after years he spent in the darkness of detention, Al-Dabaiba government in Libya issued a statement calling on the Lebanese authorities to provide the legal rights of the Libyan citizen, including a place of detention and care. Medical health, visits, correspondence, and other rights that preserve his dignity and humanity.

He continued, “The truth is that the Lebanese government appears to be detained along with Hannibal, as it is convinced that he has no camel and that he is free from judicial charges, but the Lebanese government, detained in the calculations of Lebanese internal interests, sees itself obligated to preserve what is called in Lebanon “civil peace” and fears If you release an innocent person, his captors will become angry and explode the internal situation.”
