Mayor of Zliten Municipality: The date for allocating and disbursing compensation to those affected in the city has not been set

Mayor of Zliten Municipality, Muftah Hammadi, said that the phenomenon of rising groundwater levels in the city of Zliten is a natural phenomenon and requires a longer time to deal with it, adding that we met with the Prime Minister of Western Libya, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, who in turn agreed to compensate the affected citizens with regard to the moral aspect.

Hammadi indicated, in statements to the “Safar” platform, that the number of those affected in the city reached 1,539 files, with a total compensation estimated at 90 million, pointing out that the date for allocating and disbursing these compensations has not been determined, but it is the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Housing and Construction and will be disbursed according to priority according to to the damage ratio.

He added that we agreed on a clear plan and it was referred to Al-Dabaiba, which includes the integrated facilities project, urban study and new expansions, explaining that the Supreme Committee issued a decision to stop construction operations in the affected areas until a code for building specifications is established.

He added, “Construction operations will be according to modern urban plans that ensure the ease of dealing with these problems, in the event of rain in sandy areas.”
