Al-Kufra Municipality: Health facilities face pressure with the increasing number of Sudanese refugees

The director of the media office in the municipality of Al-Kufra, Abdullah Suleiman, confirmed that the municipality is suffering from a shortage of food aid, and pressure on health facilities, due to the increasing numbers of refugees coming from Sudan.

Suleiman explained, in statements to the “LAM” network, that the last food aid received by the municipality was during the last month of Ramadan, noting that coordination is currently being made with the World Health Organization regarding providing Kufra with 6 mobile clinics to relieve pressure on the municipality’s hospital and health facilities.

He continued, saying, “We have now begun a vaccination campaign for children aged one day to 15 years, targeting local residents and displaced people coming from Sudan. Al-Kufra Mental Health Center also operates teams specialized in psychological support to support the displaced from Sudan.”

He concluded by saying, “We have also begun the work of counting the displaced people from Sudan and issuing them a free health certificate.”
