The director of the Red Crescent in the city of Sabratha, Hamza Al-Sharif, said that an illegal immigration boat capsized in the waters off the shores of the city of Sabratha, west of the capital, Tripoli.
Al-Sharif added, during statements to the Safar platform, that the recovery operations have been carried out over the course of 3 days so far, adding, “We recovered 3 bodies last Thursday, 4 bodies on Friday morning, and 3 more in the evening.”
He pointed out that we found 7 bodies last Saturday, and work is still continuing to recover 15 other bodies still in the water, following the completion of Public Prosecution and police procedures.
He explained that the recovery operations take place after coordination with the police and investigation stations, and then the bodies are transferred to the Sabratha City Hospital to complete the legal procedures through the forensic doctor.
