Russian expert: Moscow and Ankara agreed to be present inside Libya to search for their own interests

Russian political and strategic affairs specialist, Elena Soponina, said that Russia and Turkey have currently agreed to be present in Libya, and there are no differences in views between them regarding this matter.

Soponina explained, in statements to the Saudi “Al-Hadath” channel, that in the past there were disagreements between Moscow and Ankara, but they have now been resolved, because each of them is looking for their own interests only.

She continued by saying, “Unfortunately, this Russian-Turkish rapprochement does not mean stability inside Libya, because the situation is still fragile and the elections are not close.”

She concluded by saying, “The Turkish presence and the Russian presence do not enter into a stage of contradiction. Rather, each takes into account the interests of the other party. Russia has reduced its presence in Russia, which is the reason for the absence of differences with the Turks. I believe that this is because there are other interests of Moscow related to the situation in Ukraine.”
