Financial analyst: The balance of payments deficit reached $7.4 billion during the first four months

Financial analyst, Mahmoud Salem, said that there is a deficit in the balance of payments during the first four months of 2024, amounting to $7.4 billion, which is not a new indicator.

Salem added, in statements to the Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, that what is required is to continue austerity policies until the end of the year to cover the deficit in the balance of payments, considering that the rise in oil revenues contributes to the stability of the dinar.

Data from the Central Bank of Libya showed that salaries accounted for 82 percent of total public spending during the first four months of 2024, while the state’s total spending amounts to 26 billion dinars.
