Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights: Zuwara components agreed to reopen the crossing on the condition that Al-Dabaiba implements their demands within 10 days
The head of the Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights, Mustafa Abdelkabir, revealed that the reopening of the Ras Jedir border crossing, today, Monday, comes after signing a final agreement with the people of Zuwara on a number of demands.
Abdel Kabir confirmed, in statements to the “Fasil” platform, that the various components in the city of Zuwara agreed to reopen the crossing, provided that their demands are met, and gave the unity government 10 days to implement the pledges in a gesture he called “a gesture of peace and national consensus.”
He pointed out that Ras Jedir will be opened to passenger and transportation traffic in the first stage, pending the return of commercial traffic, explaining that residents of the border municipalities may have a different reaction if the trade traffic in which these areas live does not return.
He continued that there was a meeting held yesterday evening that brought together security, political and military leaders and representatives of the protesters, which concluded with the opening of the crossing and evacuating it of all military units in its vicinity.
