Harchaoui: Türkiye’s rapprochement with Belkacem Haftar is due to economic reasons
The researcher specializing in Libyan affairs, Jalal Harchaoui, confirmed that there is competition between the two governments competing for power over the huge allocations for the development section of the budget.
Harchaoui explained in statements to the newspaper “Asharq Al-Awsat” that Turkey’s rapprochement with Belqasim Haftar comes for economic reasons, as Belqasim will soon demand documentary credits for the projects that Turkish companies are working on in the eastern region, and there is likely to be a positive response from the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, to them.
He continued that Belqasim Haftar wants to benefit from the close relationship between Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir and Ankara, in order to ensure obtaining the necessary documentary credits, adding that the crisis will appear here in the issue of accepting documentary credits for Dabaiba’s projects in the same way or not.
He concluded by saying, “If Turkey is going to care about reconstruction in the east, the west will be neglected in that way.”
