Saudi newspaper: The statement of Zintan caused the promotion of the opportunities of Saif al-Islam to compete strongly to Libya
The Saudi newspaper “Mecca” saw that there is new military support that has strengthened the chances of Dr. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi to return to the political scene and compete strongly for the presidency of Libya, despite the confused political scene that the country is witnessing.
The newspaper added, in its report, that an armed force from the city of Zintan in western Libya surprised everyone by announcing its support for Dr. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi to lead the current stage, and warned against any attempt to exclude him from the upcoming presidential elections.
It pointed out that this is the first time since the February 2011 catastrophe that a Libyan military force announced its support for Dr. Saif al-Islam, noting that the military, social and political support came at a critical time when there was talk of an internal and external move to exclude him from the scene permanently.
The newspaper noted that the participants in the statement warned of “the dire consequences of the series of misinformation and manipulation of the rights and will of the Libyan people to renew the legitimacy of their institutions and authorities through the completion of simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections, with the aim of serving the interests of the dictatorial clique clinging to positions of power and influence.”
The newspaper continued that the social, military and security forces participating in the statement confirmed that Dr. Saif al-Islam enjoys great popular support and support, has leadership qualifications, a sincere national commitment and extensive political experience, and that he has the right as a Libyan citizen to run for elections and advance the ranks to serve his country.
