Turkish Foreign Minister: We are holding talks with Haftar and his sons and we are about to open our consulate in the east
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that his country wants to revive the independent, united state of Libya in which the East and West are united, stressing the existence of relations with the West and East in Libya.
Fidan indicated, in an interview on Sky News, that the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, Aguila Saleh, visited their country several times, adding, “We have contact with Khalifa Haftar, and we are holding talks with his sons.” We have opened our consulate in the East, and we are currently in the process of operating it, and all types of relations are continuing.”
He pointed out that Egypt has valid concerns related to the security of the Libyan borders, and they must be addressed, concluding, “We are communicating with Egypt, Qatar, and the Emirates and meeting together to discuss how lasting peace and national unity can be achieved in Libya, with the participation of the United Nations as well.”
