Emirati newspaper: Khoury’s next moves will focus on holding elections and forming a unified government

The Emirati newspaper Al-Bayan confirmed that the Deputy UN Envoy to Libya, Stephanie Khoury, will work during the coming period to hold a number of meetings with political parties in the west and east of the country, to identify the most prominent obstacles that prevent it from overcoming the crisis that has worsened for 13 years in the country.

The Emirati newspaper indicated that Khoury’s upcoming moves will focus on bridging the distances between the parties in Libya, especially with regard to the issue of holding elections, unifying the military institution, and working to form a unified government to lead the next stage.

It stated that Khoury will begin her work by holding meetings with the head of the Supreme Council of the Muslim Brotherhood, the “State Advisory Council,” Muhammad Takala, the head of the government of western Libya, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, and the head of the Election Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, in addition to a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors. Then, she will head to Benghazi to meet the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, Aguila Saleh, and the American Khalifa Haftar.
