Al-Zaghid: The expected government must work from Tripoli, and the UN mission is obstructing consensus

Tobruk Parliament member Ibrahim Al-Zaghid said that choosing a new prime minister depends on the program he will present, the availability of the set conditions, and obtaining the necessary endorsements.

Al-Zaghid added, in his interview with the Russian Sputnik Agency, that the expected new government is small, and its tasks will be to manage the current period until the elections, and it will focus on specific tasks.

He continued that choosing a new prime minister requires obtaining sufficient votes from the Supreme Council of the Brotherhood “the advisory state”, as well as endorsements from the Tobruk Parliament, according to the established mechanism.

He pointed out the necessity for the new government to work from the capital, Tripoli, from within the government headquarters and ministries in the capital, adding that if it is not possible to receive the headquarters in the capital, it can work from within the city of Sirte or Benghazi.

He concluded by saying, “In the event that a new government is formed, this means the end of the tasks of the Dabaiba and Hamad governments, but the matter regarding the position of the mission and the criticisms directed at it over the past years are what confuse the Libyan scene and hinder all Libyan agreements.”
